Animal Biosa · Poultry · Green Environmental Seal
Costa Rica's first
eco-sustainable poultry farm
With the Biosa program, the Yema Tica poultry farm controls gas emissions and turns poultry manure into organic fertiliser.
Two fronts, one program
Gas control
Daily spray application of Biosa on the house floor keeps ammonia below 10 ppm and carbon dioxide below 1,000 ppm, while improving hygiene conditions for the birds.
The microorganisms control the litter pH, a precursor of ammonia release.
Manure into organic fertiliser
What used to be a pollution problem becomes a resource: poultry manure is turned into a compost-type organic fertiliser, rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium.
A valuable by-product for fertilising pastures and crops.
Green Environmental Seal
For these results, the Yema Tica poultry farm receives the Green Environmental Seal, granted preliminarily by Biosa Denmark: recognition as the first poultry farm operating under an eco-sustainable production system in Costa Rica.
Technical direction and intellectual property: Ranjell Bio-Soluciones. Laboratory analysis: Agronomic Research Centre, University of Costa Rica.
